Our goal at Jan’s on the Beach Restaurant is to offer great quality food, in a relaxed casual atmosphere. By making everything from scratch in house, using fresh and local ingredients whenever possible, the food is fresh, unique and full of flavour.
Our menu is “Seafood and More” offering dishes inspired by the multicultural flavours of the Pacific Northwest.
Back in 2006 Jan had left a 20 year career as a Real Estate agent in the Delta B.C. area and was looking for a new challenge. Her family convinced her to turn her foodie passion as a great cook into a career, and so Jan headed to school, and graduated from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts on Granville Island in Vancouver B.C. in 2006.
Jan then worked in the restaurant industry for a number of years, then landed an apprenticing position under John Garrett at Horizons Restaurant on Burnaby Mountain. When Jan completed her final certification as a Red Seal Chef it was time to take her cooking career to the next level.
Jan started “Jan’s Gourmet”, a new catering business in the North Delta area, covering weddings, special events, private dinner parties and more. As business grew, Jan and her husband Gord started looking for a small restaurant to help expand Jan’s Gourmet and discovered this jewel of a location right on the waterfront in White Rock.
After a couple months renovation to an open kitchen plan, new bar area, and a brand new patio to take advantage of the view of the San Juan Islands, Jan’s on the Beach Restaurant opened in March 2012.
With Gord and his parents Gary and Carol and our kids all helping out, Jan’s on the Beach Restaurant is truly a family run business!
